MISSION STATEMENT

With over fifty years of combined experience in rescuing Chinese Crested dogs, Crested Guardians is a group of dedicated volunteers living across the United States who work together to preserve and protect Chinese Cresteds in need.   It is our mission to make a positive change in the lives of unwanted or abandoned Chinese Crested dogs through transporting, fostering, nurturing, socializing, providing medical care and positive-reinforcement based training.   The ultimate goal of Cresteds Guardians is to place each rescued Crested into a loving forever home.

THE CHINESE CRESTED BREED DOG

The Hairless and Powder Puff

The Chinese Crested Breed Dog has a couple of different looks.  Although they are well-known for the hairless variety, where hair is only on their head “Crest”, paws “Socks” and tail “Plume”, the Powder Puff has hair all over their body.  The Chinese Crested Powder Puff is a non-shedding dog who is covered with hair and has the same unique and fun characteristics of their hairless counterparts.  A shaven face on the Powder Puff gives them their unique look.  This quirky breed often does well in dog sports such as agility, or as a companion for a loving family.  They are lovingly referred to as “velcro dogs” because of their love of constant companionship.

Giving love and nurturing needs               Proper vetting and medical care

We provide vetting, transportation, and foster homes for each dog in need, until he or she can be matched to an approved home. We work closely with shelters and Animal Control Officer to aid Cresteds in need.  We provide education to adopters and the general public interested in learning more about the breed in an effort to help ensure the integrity of the breed as a whole. Our group works together as a team often driving tremendous distances in order to save one dog.  Help us, help them.
